The February 2011 issue of Wildlife Australia Magazine features my photo of a Flannel Flower with a Hoverfly sitting on it, as the cover shot. It was taken at Girraween National Park, in Queensland. To see the full-sized version of this cover, please click here.

Michael photographing along the Overland Track in Tasmania
In early February 2011, I went on a photographic expedition to Tasmania to walk and photograph along the 65 km Overland Track, between Cradle Mountain and Lake St Claire, as well as many kilometres of side trips. I started with around 29kgs on my back and it was, without doubt, the most exhausting, body-punishing thing I have ever done. It was also one of the most stunningly-beautiful, amazing and brilliant experiences of my life! This was my first trip to Tasmania and as a lover of nature and a professional nature photographer, I can only describe what I saw and photographed as nirvana. I’ll definitely be back… To see some of my photos from this trip, please click here
On Monday the 14th of February 2011, I presented an audio-visual on nature photography at the Noosa Photo Club. The usual attendance numbers were more than doubled for my presentation and there were some extremely enthusiastic members (and visitors) in the audience!
